Take a cue from Hef...

No, don't start dating 3 blondes that are 60 years your junior... just wear your robe all day! There is nothing more lovely than a luxurious pair of pajamas, or an equally swanky robe.  The navy robe is a Pendleton, 100% virgin wool belonging to my roommate's grandfather, until he swiped it from their attic. The gold & blue robe has a matching top, and pants that can only be described as 'manpris.' They hail from Germany during the Vietnam war era. My uncle and aunt were stationed in Germany, and the pajamas were a gift for my grandfather. They were recently hanging, long forgotten in their basement until I rescued them. Both of these pieces can be worn as light coats just keep everything else simple. White oxford, dark jeans, and it never hurts to throw on a broach (Just ask my roommate) I found some exquisite robes at midnightglamour.com A little pricey but truly gorgeous.

Bit by a flea...

Today I made my much anticipated trip to Keller's Flea Market. Sadly I only found one refuge in the salty sea of fake Coach bags. I'll call this "The Ginn House" (The sign above the entry.)Inside the first booth I found some great vintage jewelry for $1.00 a piece. I snagged the whimsical cat belt buckle below. He also had beautiful antique door knobs, old photos, furniture, and nicer vintage jewelry. The building also housed a large collection of older glassware, records, and wonderful vintage knickknacks.

Don't do LSD, or eat hotdogs...

Yet another reason I don't eat hotdogs...

PETA will not be following this blog...

My vintage fur cape arrived today! I wasn't expecting it until next week so it was quite the treat. The fur is in beautiful condition and so is the lining no rips, or tears. The back is gorgeous, and I love the tiered look.  The initials of the original owner are embroidered in the lining. I adore it when I find something with a name or initials. And where did I find this beauty? Shopgoodwill.com of course! If you're not sure what to look for when buying a vintage fur I found a great article at worhtpoint.com. This is a great site for identifying pieces you may buy. There is a membership fee, but they also have helpful articles and other postings that are free.

Distracted by shiny things...

I just picked up the February issue of Lucky Magazine and I find a page devoted to sequins! I adore anything that sparkles. To the left is a fabulous Oleg Cassni top found at a thrift store. It's in great shape, and would be perfect for a New Years soirée. Cassni designed Jackie O's iconic state wardrobe in the 1960's. The other is a Goodwill find. No stains and the beadwork is in great condition. And once again paired with dark jeans it's instantly chic.

Now I just need to take up bowling...

My new favorite find are these Endicott Johnson bowling shoes. (In very good condition) The EJ tanneries closed in 1968 and the last of the manufacturing plants closed in 1998. I’ve done some research and can’t find anything that would give me an age estimate on the shoes. Given the style and look of them I’d say they’re vintage. I plan to wear them with dark jeans, perhaps cuffed or rolled up. Another great find, and what I’ll possibly be paring with the shoes are vintage Lacoste sweaters. I checked around in the internet, and they can go for well over $50.00. I’ve managed to find 3 at Goodwill and thrift stores, I haven't paid more than $6.00. They’re classically preppy and never go out of style.
