St. Patrick's Day 2013

It's no secret that St. Patrick's Day is a bit of a big deal here in Savannah. This year the green blazer stayed in the closet & I donned a Savannah Morning News Spotted shirt, shot some video & took over 600 photos from our float!

Mayor Edna Jackson & the Budweiser Clyldesdales stopped by the SMN float.

Spotted our photographer Rich Burkhart hard at work on Broad Street.

Green streets

And I started the morning (quickly!) catching a bit of excitement- runaway horse!
Blink & you'll miss him.

Savannah Restaurant Week

This past Friday the boyfriend & I partook in Savannah Restaurant Week (also celebrating our 1 month) at 17 Hundred 90. Oh my goodness, the food was delicious! So much so that I didn't want to take the time to snap any photos- I couldn't wait to try my 3 courses, which were:

-Savannah Style Caprese—Fried green tomatoes topped with pepper jack cheese, fresh basil and a balsamic vinaigrette reduction
-Chateaubriand Rouge— Chef carved slices of filet mignon topped with sauteed mushrooms and port wine reduction; served with horseradish mashed potatoes and seasoned asparagus
-Pecan Pie—Our signature pie with bourbon, molasses and Georgia pecans topped with bourbon glaze

Independence (a week late..)

This was my third year checking out the fireworks on River Street, and by far the hottest. Sadly, there wasn't an abundance of pictures (but there was a pesky street light). I was more concerned with finding some AC and a cold drink.

True gents

This frosted tea glass was originally part of a 6 glass series from the 1940s. You can see the complete set here. I think these guys might be the only remaining gents around..

St. Patrick's Day 2012

Started the day with an Irish Coffee & that's where it should have ended...
An estimated 1 million people were in town this weekend & it was beyond insane. Traffic was gridlocked well into the wee hours of the morning & the streets were covered in trash. Needless to say I didn't enjoy the day like I was hoping. But, at least I looked chic in my blazer.

Going Green ⎮2012

It's that time again- (No, it's not The Masters) St. Patrick's Day! The green blazer is up from storage, now to get rid of those wrinkles... And I will definitely be wearing comfy shoes this year. Lesson learned.

Southern style

Last semester I had the amazing opportunity to intern at  Savannah's own South magazine. And now I'm freelancing for them. So excited to see my first (paid!) article in the new issue.

Merry Christmas!

A few of the things Santa brought... A vintage street car liquor bottle & some shiny loafers. Santa knows me all too well. I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas!

Bottoms up

Vintage Indian decanter from 1968. It's chipped at the top & missing the rest of the headdress, but I couldn't pass it up.

Tuesday bloody Tuesday

I just made & had my first ever bloody Mary. And I must say I'm not at all disappointed.

St. Pats

My first St. Patrick's Day in Savannah has come & gone (some of us looking classier than others) but the blisters on my heels are sure to be here for a while. Cuteness over comfort.

Goodwill, good day

People have discovered the goodness of Goodwill- It was incredibly busy today. I did manage to find a complete set of vintage (?) pheasant tumblers. I did some digging and found some similar ones on Etsy

Brrrr...

While my parents are sitting pretty with 8 inches of snow Savannah's fate was nothing more than rain & cold temperatures.  So I warmed up with a little hot toddy. I cheat by using cinnamon spice tea bags & rum- But the result is always tasty.

Stay warm!

Going international

I picked up this vintage Dan Baird glass tray earlier this week. Google hasn't provided me with much, but I think it might have been part of a bar set.

They're so cute at that age

A Birthday poem for the best roommate ever (Besides myself of course)

You're turning 21.
Your life has just begun,
It's all about booze and bars.
So long as you don't get behind the wheel of a car.
You'll get wasted and throw your fist in the air,
White boys shouldn't dance that good, it's just not fair.
Very excited to share your first legal drink,
So lets toast and let our glasses clink.

The boxes housed a vintage mens Dior shirt, 2 Dior ties, YSL shirt, YSL tie, and a beautiful vintage paisley Wembley bow tie. All except the bow tie were complements of Goodwill.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The parade is still going strong in Savannah. Right outside my apartment no less...

A toast to sweaters!

I hope that gentleman is toasting to his glorious sweater! I love a big chunky sweater. Cardigan, or pullover I don't discriminate. The one on the left was purchased at a flea market for under $10.00. Pair it with a white oxford and flats, and I feel like I should be sharing a beer with the gentleman above (or at the very least sitting next to a roaring fire smoking a pipe). The other was a Goodwill find. Hand made in Bolivia, 100% alpaca, and 100% itchy. But a bargain at $3.49. Now if only it would stay a bit colder in Savannah, and our apartment had functioning fireplaces...
